A heritage terrace, a modern family, and the question of how to honor both.
Federation Recast began as a narrow Victorian terrace in Woollahra — beautiful bones, but a plan that no longer worked for contemporary life. The architect's scheme kept the street-facing facade and the front rooms intact, then inserted a modern pavilion at the rear around a new courtyard. Our work was to make the join seamless: where does heritage end and contemporary begin? The answer is that you shouldn't be able to tell. The house reads as a single coherent whole — respectful of its past, built for its future.
